Break Time!

Well, school has to come first so I am going to be on a couple day break. Hopefully I can get on tomorrow and type something meaningful. I hate that I am going to miss Phil Hughes pitch tonight, hope he does great. Hope everyone enjoys their day while I am drowning myself in coffee and Jack Johnson (great studying music!) Talk to yall soon!

"I can see clearly now the rain is gone"....

No, actually I can't. Does it seem like the Yankees are encountering a lot of bad weather? Posada is injured, not even going to say what it is because there is a lot of debate about what is actually wrong. Whatever it is, it's not good. That's a big blow to us. Yes, we have Molina but poor guy isn't the best base runner. I really like Molina though, seems like a pretty nice guy. So I have determined that all of this craziness that is surrounding this team is bound to have an explosive break out. When it will happen, I have no idea but believe me it will be phenomenal!

Did you see the game against Cleveland today? It was an interesting one. Wang racked up his 5th win. C.C. Sabathia pitched a pretty impressive game as well. Both pitchers were doing everything they could to shut down everyone's bats. The final score was 0-1 Yankees. The 1 run came from a solo homer from Melky Cabrera..."The Melkman Delivered!" Won't even get into the RISP issue, but I personally think some of our guys needs to hear the definition of clutch. And no, I am not just referring to Jeter and A-Rod. Joba and Mo got the job done, thankfully. Is it totally wrong that I completely love this equation....Joba + Mariano = Scary Good Combo.!

Bad storms can only last for so long. They may be bad and damaging, but they eventually subside. Then comes a rainbow, something you take a step back to look at and admire how you got through the storm. Somehow, that rainbow takes a little of the sting out of the storm.

* All of you out there, be looking for that rainbow at the end of this "storm" the Yankees are going through. Don't know what it will be or when it will happen, but it's a promise that all storms come to an end!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Just remembered, tomorrow marks 1 week until Cinco De Mayo, aka my 21st birthday. I am so very excited. I love my birthday. Going to a very fancy resturant and getting a massage, not into to drinking so it will be a very calm evening for me. It will still be loads of fun though!

Stuck in a rut.

School is my rut, and it sure is a big one. For instance, I should be studying right now but of course I'm not. I have THREE weeks left of my junior year of college, and then I am done. I have decided that the "real" world is better than this. Worrying about grades is ridiculous to me. It's really sad because right now people my age aren't living to better this world or help others out, they are living to make a grade in a class that really isn't going to matter 10 years down the road. I know grades are important, but seriously when they consume every ounce of us it becomes a slight problem. I think I have stomach ulcers worrying about trying to make a decent grade. A grade does not define me, too bad we have been taught otherwise. Guess that means I am your everyday average, dull person. (yeah, right!) Bills, they bite. I am glad I pay for things like rent and utilities, I think it's preparing me for future things. But trying to pay $400 a month in bills when I only make about $300 stinks. I am hoping once I have my desired job, bills will be easier to pay. I keep telling myself that at least. For now though, I am beyond thrilled to be making any money at this point. I guess I am just in this rush to be done with school, which are supposed to be the greatest years of your life. But ask any college student about their life, it's not really all it's cracked up to be. It is fun, no doubt about that. To know that I am volunteering to put myself through this is crazy. I'm sure one day I'm going to look back about me stressing about my young 20s and laugh hysterically and say "If only I could have known..." Okay, enough rambling about school...whew I am some kind of rambler :)

The LA tech baseball team played a double-header against Hawaii today. Lost the first 8-4 and won the second 14-4. Another game against them tomorrow, would like to go but I am pretty sure I will be spending the day at the lake on a boat!

Those crazy Yankees lost. It was an exciting game to say the least. IPK seemed to look better to me, but what do I know? Jorge wowed us all and really came through. Damon was on fire, unfortunately the guys around him weren't able to back up his efforts. It's okay though because I like things to start off slow and then end with a really big BANG- as long as there's a bang at the end of this. *Boston lost again and you won't hear me complaining one bit! *Wang takes the mound tomorrow and I am pulling for his 5th win. Hope you are too!

Now on to studying the cognitive development of young children (it's really more interesting than it sounds) Enjoy the evening!

You win some, you lose some.

12-12, that's where the Yankees sit right now. Nothing to be worried about though. They are pacing themselves, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. I decided to look at the AL standings today and wondered what was the point. There isn't one. It seems like people are so quick to say the season is over this early, but really that assumption is pretty ridiculous. I have been impressed with what I have seen so far, it seems like almost everyone is improving.

The bulldogs lost to Hawaii tonight, 13-7. Hope to go to the game tomorrow. Our student section just so happens to be on top of the visitor's dugout so that's pretty cool. Right now we are 16-23, but in the WAC we are in last place at 2-17. Despite their numbers, they really have been doing pretty well this year.

Well, I have an extremely early day tomorrow. Good night!

Joba here, Joba there?

This has got to be one of the biggest questions to date: Does Joba need to be a starter or reliever? I've tried to put off thinking about, but after last night I thought I would try to form my own opinion. BOTTOM LINE- the guy can pitch, we all know that. I'm just not sure what position. I have fancied the idea of him handing off the ball to Mariano and then slowly sliding into a full-time closer position. The only thing that makes me unsure is the fact that he is hittable. That late in a game you need to bring in a guy who gets the job done, 3 up-3 down. I think with some work he can become a no-hitter pitcher, give and take some growing pains along the way. Then there's the idea of him being a starter. I would also like to see him on the mound first thing, but I'm just not too sure. Joba isn't afraid to show some emotions when he pitches, my only fear is that he could get too worked up pitching for a long stretch and then become WAY too hittable. So there's my dilemma, where would I like to see him?

- He has raw talent that should be used, but I personally don't think for 7-innings at a time. Last season I discussed with my mom where he should be and we both agreed on him being in the bullpen. So that is what I think should happen. Mo won't be around forever, can't even begin to imagine that right now! I think it would be wonderful to have Joba eventually take over that position. Doesn't mean I don't think we should test the waters with him starting, and if he is successful there then by all means he should start. He's young, so there really isn't anyway to determine where he will be successful down the road. For now, I think the combination of Joba and Mariano is one to be very afraid of if I were a hitter. Oh, and I think we would all miss the celebratory fist pump from him, because seriously, there won't be any fist pumping when he leaves the 6th or 7th inning. So I stand in favor of Joba and the late inning fist pump :) (Don't kill me for thinking that!) If you totally disagree with me or whatever, feel free to let me know. I won't mind! Basically, I just think Joba is a fun guy (hence the pink backpack at a Royals game I was at last September) who deserves to pitch. Guess we'll let Joe G. and the others make the final call!

Thank goodness it's Friday, too bad I have a ton of studying to do. It's a Louisiana Tech Baseball weekend against Hawaii here in Ruston, might try to make it to a game hopefully. I will also be watching some Yankee baseball too. Then I'm going to the lake all day on Sunday. So maybe the studying part isn't looking too good....! Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend and gets outside because the weather is wonderful, take care.

Way to go Moose...

I clearly enjoyed watching the Yankees vs. White Sox game last night, mostly because I was hoping Mike Mussina would show us who he really is-a good pitcher. Now it wasn't the best start he's ever had, but considering the path he was headed down it was a much needed turn. He was able to control the White Sox last night who have been hitting like crazy so far this season. Now if we can strengthen the bullpen a little so we don't have to bring out Mariano in the 8th. But they got the win, so ultimately that's what matters.
How about the score in the Tigers and Rangers game? I certainly would've hated to be the pitcher(s) in that game. Don't know if anyone noticed (yeah right), but the Red Sox lost....can't say I'm complaining either :)
It has been an interesting morning thus far for me. I left my house a tad later than I should have and couldn't get a spot for my 10am sociology class. So I HAD to skip...darn. But seriously, this school has parking for what seems like only a few hundred people when there are clearly like 1000 people trying to park. So I went to Sonic, got a Diet Cherry Limeade and decided to update this thing. Can't wait for tonight, although I find myself in a bit of a predicament: too many tv choices. The Yankees are playing on WGN tonight which is the feed we get here in LA, Grey's Anatomy is back, and The Office is also on. Here in oh, so exciting Ruston, Louisiana we have Grey's Parties. A bunch of girls cook a wonderful meal (we're trying to domesticate ourselves!) and pile in front of the tv for some overly dramatic acting. You know you love it, not to mention McDreamy.....! Let's just hope all the girls don't mind changing to baseball on the commercials.
Hope everyone is enjoying today, the weekend is almost here! Best of luck to Phil Hughes tonight, I am hoping and wishing for a turn around tonight. I am hoping for us to sweep the White Sox tonight! Take care everyone :)

Gotta love Mondays....

No seriously, this has been a wonderful day so far.My 8 am and 11 am classes we're canceled, so I got to sleep in, which was AMAZING! The teacher failed to inform us there wasn't any class, he decided to have us all come and then bring in someone else to tell us it was canceled...not cool. This happened at both times- that has been the only negative thing so far! Instead of the 11 am class, we all went and grabbed ChickFil-a on campus, shouldn't have eaten it, but it was good! So my next class, Dr. C decides to pass out our graded tests. FYI: a 10-page cognitive and gross motor skills development test ALL written. OK, so she puts it on my desk face down, I start flipping backwards and see her critique marks all over it, "Oh no" I say to myself. I brace myself for a C or a D because this was a seriously hard test. I muster up the nerve to flip it over and there was an A, a borderline A...but an A nonetheless. Let me just tell you I am a mediocre student and I do not make A's on tests, but I worked my butt off for that A and couldn't be happier!
So then I come home, still a little bummed about eating ChickFil-A, I decide to work out. Oh man was it hard, but there is nothing greater than working out really hard and feeling great about it. So that kinda counteracted the bad food from earlier. (or at least in my mind it does, haha!)
Also remembered, I leave for San Diego in exactly one month! I am so ready.

So now I sit here, drinking my water, eating some papaya/pineapple and feeling pumped about my A...life really is good, who knew I would ever say that on a Monday! Now I am about to go outside enjoy this beautiful day, 80 degrees and slightly sunny! Hope yall are also having an enjoyable Monday :)

The beginning of a fresh, new week.

I really enjoy watching Pettitte pitch, something about how he maintains himself on the mound has always fascinated me. It also helps that he was born in LA...great state, great people :) He pitched a pretty impressive game to the O's. This is going to be a great week for the Yankees, mark my word.
Hope A-Rod is okay, thank goodness we have some solid backup. I personally think (or at least hope) he is with his wife as she prepares for the delivery of their baby. That is fine with me and I think he should be allowed off for as long as needed, and he isn't going to tell anyone what he did. You know he wants to maintain his tough-guy persona...guess you have to with the media and nosy people all around.
SO glad Joba is back and that his dad is doing so much better.

4 more weeks of my junior year of college, scary. How did this happen, and so soon? I have always been in such a rush to grow up...now that it's here, I'm not so sure. But at this point, I am sure the "real world" is a lot better than school, homework, and the very small income I have right now.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Here it goes...

I decided to enter the wonderful world of blogging. Not sure how it's going to go, but it's worth a try. This blog is mostly for my family since I am going to be working in New York all summer, they need to be able to keep up with me :) I like to write, always have, but I haven't been a big journal writer, much to the dismay of my grandfather...so this is a start in the right direction. I worked longer than normal today since I only had to go to one class today, tonight I am headed to Monroe with friends to meet our friend who is returning from Paris. In the meantime, I am highly anticipating Phil Hughes' start against the Orioles. Too bad I can only watch about an hour, but thank goodness for MLBtv archives. Hughes last two outings were, uh, a little rough, but nothing that he can't bounce back from. I watched to Office last night, so I missed a good portion of the game but I did see clips of that Farnsworth pitch. I am just not too sure how to interpret it. He is a seasoned player, unlike Joba last year when he threw those crazy pitches...so part of me thinks it was intentional. I could be wrong, but I think it was like a 98mph fast ball. If that's the case, how much control can one have over something going that fast? Whatever the reasoning, let's just hope the next time they meet (in July) nothing crazy will happen.
The first part of this blogging thing is probably gonna revolve around baseball, because it pretty much is my fav. part of the year. To whoever is reading this, which probably is no one, hope you have a wonderful evening and an even better weekend. Don't forget to relax :)
